It is the day on which the branch of the day matches that of the month, and it opens the cycle. In ancient times the emperor devoted it to prayers for the harvest. Today it is chosen for getting engaged and asking for someone's hand, for starting a job or taking on a new role, for doing business and for visiting friends: in the old calendars “visiting friends” meant arranging a marriage, which was business in every sense. It is good for setting out, for starting a treatment, a school or a course, and for building. It is not good for demolishing or for innovating, which are another matter.
